Best Luxury Hotels Polanco Mexico City

One of the nicest things about the luxury hotels in Polanco Mexico City is the variety, from tiny, characterful boutique hotels to 5-star international chains. Here, we’ve picked out some of our favourites from across the spectrum.

#1 The Alest Hotel – Best For Elegant Accommodation.

Not many Polanco Mexico City hotels can boast both the style and the substance of the Alest Hotel, which has beautiful lodgings with top-notch service to match. There are just 19 rooms here, assuring a personalized experience for every guest.

LOCATION | This is prime Polanco real estate, surrounded by boutique shops, upmarket restaurants, and the Parque Lincoln. There really couldn’t be a more ideal place to experience what it means to be a Polanco resident.

ROOMS | A largely monochromatic palette accented with just a few splashes of colour makes for very chic sleeping quarters. We particularly like the hand-painted bedside tables, which give Louis XIV vibes updated for the 21st century.

FACILITIES | The best facility at the Alest is its smart brasserie, which serves up delicious Mexican cuisine. A close second is the ability to arrange for a private massage within the comfort of your hotel room.

From a practical perspective, we really appreciate having daily breakfast included, as well as the option of free private parking.

#2 Hyatt Regency Mexico City – Best For Decadent Rest And Relaxation.

On the other end of the scale from the Alest, the Hyatt Regency has a grand total of 775 rooms on offer. While it may not have an intimate feel, the hotel does boast all the facilities you’d expect from a 5-star brand, including a big indoor pool.

LOCATION | The hotel is on the southern side of Polanco, just a few steps from the Avenida Paseo de la Reforma, Mexico City’s principal artery. The Auditorio metro stop is about 5 minutes’ walk.

ROOMS | One of our favourite things about the Hyatt Regency is that no matter whether you book a 300-square-foot (28-square-metre) twin room or a 646-square-foot (60-square-metre) king suite, your room will have a large picture window with gorgeous views of the city.

FACILITIES | There’s no shortage of ways to spend your downtime, from the well-equipped gym to the sizable indoor pool. For those who like to take it easy, there’s the soothing heat of the sauna and steam room, while tennis fanatics can get their forehand practice in on one of the hotel’s three tennis courts.

There’s also plenty of choice when it comes to in-house dining, including a Latin American all-day eatery, a teppanyaki grill, and a Japanese restaurant.

#3 InterContinental Presidente Mexico City – Best Hotel Polanco Mexico City For 5 Star Comfort.

Among the finest 5 star hotels in Polanco Mexico City, the InterContinental Presidente’s design is a flawless example of upscale comfort. It also has a huge range of dining options to suit all tastes and occasions.

LOCATION | Situated right next to the Hyatt Regency, the InterContinental is a short walk from the green haven of the Bosque de Chapultepec (Chapultepec Forest) as well as the Auditorio metro.

ROOMS | Catering for couples as well as families, there are rooms here for 2 to 4 people, plus larger suites that can fit 6. Each comes with a picture window, and you can specify if you prefer a park view or a city view.

FACILITIES | Let’s start with the F&B options, which include a casual Mexican eatery, a slightly more formal American surf and turf spot, a French bistro, a fancy Italian restaurant, an intimate sushi bar, a lobby bar with live music, the standard morning buffet spot, and an all-day restaurant whose speciality is afternoon tea.

If you still have any energy left after all that eating, the InterContinental also has an excellent spa and a fitness centre with all the latest equipment.

#4 Pug Seal Polanco Allan Poe – Best For Well-Heeled Rule Breakers.

The Allan Poe is one of best hotels in Polanco Mexico City if you want boutique accommodation that doesn’t play by the same style rules as the 5 star chains. Toss aside discrete, muted colours and understated elegance, this hotel is all loud colours and bold décor.

LOCATION | Just off the Avenida Presidente Masaryk, Polanco’s most expensive shopping street, the Allan Poe is about 15 minutes’ walk from the Polanco metro station and 20 minutes from the modern-art-focused Museo Soumaya.

ROOMS | The bedrooms of this striking 1940s mansion are enlivened by ceramic stag and wolf heads, which hang over the beds like guardian angels. Each of the 21 lodgings is unique, with something unusual or quirky to pique your interest in everyone.

Personally, our preferred rooms are the ones that come with balconies overhanding the property’s small garden, providing a perfect spot for a morning coffee or an evening nightcap.

FACILITIES | Aside from the communal garden, there’s also a lounge room, a breakfast dining room, a rooftop, and a spa. Bicycles are supplied free of charge, as is private parking.

#5 Pug Seal Polanco Anatole France – One Of The Best Hotels in Mexico City Polanco For Social Media Snaps.

Given that Pug Seal is all about the confluence of bold design and high fashion, it’s no surprise that two of the brand’s four locations are in Polanco. The Anatole France is perhaps even more outrageously loud than the Allan Poe, making it one of the best hotels in Polanco Mexico City for Instagram posts.

LOCATION | Found within another of Polanco’s distinctive early 20th-century mansions, the Anatole France is just over 10 minutes from the nearest metro station, 20 minutes from the Museo Soumaya, and just a few steps from the unusual Parroquia de San Agustín church.

ROOMS | Just like the Allan Poe, the Anatole France ensures no two rooms are exactly alike. In most of them, patterned wallpaper and multicoloured carpets dominate the eye, complemented by equally vivid bathrooms.

FACILITIES | While you won’t find a swimming pool or a gym at the Anatole France, there are some cozy areas to relax, including a garden, a lounge, and a rooftop terrace.

Best Mid-Range Mexico City Hotels In Polanco

A lot of the best mid-range Polanco hotels come in the form of aparthotels, supplying understated style at a reasonable price point.

#6 UTOPIC Palacio Polanco by ULIV – Best Studio Apartments In Polanco.

A different take on Mexico City hotels in Polanco, the UTOPIC Palacio provides modern studio flats with their own kitchen facilities that are ideal for people who want to self-cater.

LOCATION | The Palacio de Hierro department store is just opposite, the Soumaya Museum is a 16-minute walk, while Polanco metro station is under 20 minutes’ walk.

ROOMS | Each studio comes with its own kitchenette featuring a fridge, a stovetop, a toaster, a coffee machine, a microwave, and kitchenware. Some also come with a private internal balcony or terrace, which has the benefit of privacy but does not mean that you don’t get much in the way of views.

FACILITIES | There’s a small fitness room that can handle a basic workout, plus a rooftop hot tub where you can have a soothing soak afterwards to ease your muscles.

#7 Grand Polanco Residencial – Best Aparthotel In Polanco.

Housed inside a beautiful period building, this aparthotel offers neatly furnished flats for superb value, especially given the neighbourhood.

LOCATION | The Grand Polanco Residencial is one of the best hotels in Polanco Mexico City for lovers of fine dining, with some of Mexico City’s most highly esteemed restaurants just a short walk away, including Pujol and Quintonil. The Polanco metro station is very close if you want to travel further afield.

ROOMS | One-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments are available, all with an open-plan living-dining kitchenette main room.

FACILITIES | Although the Grand Polanco Residencial has stopped serving breakfast since we last visited, there is still a nice enclosed communal patio where you can relax with a coffee and pastry bought from a nearby café.

The building also has a small basement gym and paid private parking.

#8 UTOPIC Polanco by ULIV – Best For Contemporary Style.

This UTOPIC-branded spot is one of the best Mexico City hotels in Polanco for people who enjoy industrial chic. Exposed concrete walls are paired with contemporary artwork to create a space that looks and feels unique.

LOCATION | On the eastern edge of Polanco, staying here puts you right on the cusp of the Bosque de Chapultepec, with the Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art and the National Museum of Anthropology just a short stroll away.

While the closest metro station is about 25 minutes’ walk, there is a Metrobus station nearby.

ROOMS | Many of the rooms here come with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of light, but for something a little outlandish, go for the cheapest deluxe studio. This room is completely windowless, almost like a post-apocalyptic bunker as envisaged by an interior designer. For larger groups, the double suites sleep four.

FACILITIES | Our favourite feature here is hands-down the terrace, which has great views of the surrounding area. A close second, however, is the hammock-strewn communal lounge, which is a great place to hang out! There’s also a compact but sufficient gym.

#9 Suites Contempo – Simple But Modern Studios.

The Suites Contempo manages to pack a lot into its spacious studios, making it one of the best hotels in Polanco Mexico City for people who like the idea of an open-plan cooking-dining-living-sleeping concept.

LOCATION | The Suites Contempo is more Polanco adjacent than in Polanco proper. While that might not be great for people who want to be in the very heart of Mexico City’s most upmarket district, it does mean you are much closer to the trendy colonias of La Condesa and Roma.

ROOMS | Modern minimalism is in the ascendant at this aparthotel, which keeps the room design simple with plenty of wood accents. All studios come with a kitchenette, a seating area, and a dining table, as well as city views.

FACILITIES | This property has the core amenities down, including a glassed-in restaurant, a paid airport shuttle, breakfast, and a small fitness room.

#10 Alteza Polanco – Best For Quiet Stays.

A well-priced 4 star hotel in a tranquil part of Polanco, the Alteza puts the emphasis on simple and clean rooms, complemented by a decent smattering of facilities.

LOCATION | At the very northwestern end of Polanco, this hotel is about 15 minutes from the Museo Soumaya. There’s no metro station nearby, but there is a Metrobus stop.

ROOMS | The bright red walls lend a pop of colour to the otherwise staid rooms, which come equipped with standard items like air-conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a desk, and a safety deposit box.

FACILITIES | Breakfast is available daily, though you’ll have to go elsewhere for other meals. There’s also a small fitness space and massage rooms on site for when you need to let off some steam.

Best Budget-Friendly Polanco Hotels

Despite being an expensive address, not all the accommodation in Polanco is priced at the top end. In this section, you’ll find the best hotels in Polanco Mexico City for people with an eye for a bargain.

#11 Eugenio SUEtes – One Of The Newest Budget Polanco Hotels Mexico City.

Starting off with one of the brand-new budget hotels in Polanco, the recently spruced-up Eugenio SUEtes is in a quiet neighbourhood and has the solid benefit of free private parking for those who have rented a car for their visit.

LOCATION | The building is about 10 minutes from the nearest metro station and 20 minutes from the Museo Soumaya.

ROOMS | Decorated with copious wood panelling, the accommodation here ranges from a 215-square-foot double room for 2 to a 700-square-foot superior suite with a kitchen and space for 4. Fair warning: there was no air conditioning when we visited, which might be a deal breaker for some.

FACILITIES | Aside from the free private parking, there’s a 24-hour front desk that can also help arrange tours for guests.

#12 PH Masarik 17 – Best Located Budget Hotel.

If the simplicity of white décor and parquet floors sounds like it would suit you just fine, PH Masarik 17 is the place to go.

LOCATION | Right off the eastern end of ritzy Avenida Presidente Masaryk, this hotel is about 15 minutes from the National Museum of Anthropology, 20 minutes from the Polanco metro station, and 25 minutes from Paseo de la Reforma.

ROOMS | There are just a handful of rooms on offer at PH Masarik 17, each one containing a kitchenette with a microwave and a minibar.

FACILITIES | This is not one of the best hotels in Polanco Mexico City to book if you want a ton of amenities. We liked the outdoor terrace, though, which is a nice place to go for some fresh air and neighbourhood views.

#13 Casa Castillo – Best Hotel In Polanco Mexico City For Affordable Comfort.

We’ve not seen many hotels near Polanco Mexico City that are in such adorable houses. Forget about the lack of amenities and just enjoy the cheerful lodgings.

LOCATION | Although technically just outside Polanco proper, this converted mansion is well situated just a short walk from the upscale district. It’s also very convenient for the Bosque de Chapultepec and the Angel de la Independencia monument.

ROOMS | The best way we can describe the accommodation here is that it feels like a guest room in somebody’s home. It’s cosy and warm without being overly personalised.

A coffee machine, a small fridge, and a flat-screen TV are fitted in every room.

FACILITIES | Expect only the very bare basics, such as a 24-hour desk and luggage storage.

#14 Leib 65 – Best Value For Money.

Given the location, the quality of the furnishings, and the level of staff attentiveness, Leib 65 is one of the best hotels in Polanco Mexico City in terms of bang for your buck.

LOCATION | Just a few doors down from Casa Castillo, Leib 65 is about 20 minutes from Chapultepec metro station.

ROOMS | The accommodation here is definitely on the compact side, but the bright white décor makes it feel comfortable rather than crushed. Even the smallest rooms manage to adequately fit a microwave, a fridge, a desk or dining table, and some crockery.

FACILITIES | Nada, although the staff are always happy to help you out with transportation and sightseeing inquiries. Plus, there is luggage storage if you need somewhere to leave your bags for a little while after you check out.

#15 Hotel PM Polanco – Basic Sleeping Quarters.

Sometimes, all you need is somewhere affordable and clean to lay your head at the end of a long day. That’s what the Hotel PM Polanco offers, leaving you free to spend the savings on sampling the local food and picking up some souvenirs at the markets!

LOCATION | Polanco metro station and the National Museum of Anthropology are both about 15 minutes walk.

ROOMS | The 108-square-foot (10-square-metre) lodgings don’t have air conditioning, but they do squeeze in a desk, a flat-screen TV, and a tiny minibar.

FACILITIES | Daily housekeeping is included. Really, though, the main attraction of hotels in Polanco district Mexico City like this one is that they are cheap as chips, free of dirt, and in a nice neighbourhood. For $50 a night, what more do you want?
